Deputy Defense Minister works with Department of Military School Management
PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister, had a working session with the Department of Military School Management under the General Staff on the department-building, the education and training outcomes of military schools, and the department’s future tasks on August 11 in Hanoi.
At the meeting, General Cuong was briefed on the department’s personnel organization and quality over the past time. Attentively, all the unit’s staffs are university graduates. 91 percent of them has post-graduate degrees while 31.1 percent of them are PhDs.

Since early this year, the department has effectively performed their advisory role, renovated training programs and contents, improved quality of foreign language training, and shared practical experience with trainees. It has opened 14 refresher courses, granted certificates of pedagogy and education management for over 1,100 instructors and educational managers, and equipped them with information technology and soft skills. The department has also directed the implementation of student enrollment and strict observance of COVID-19 prevention and control measures, among others.
In his speech, General Cuong recognized the department’s achievements. He noted that one of the important requirements to build a modernized military is to have modern military servicemen. It is an important task for the military education and training sector. To do that, the Department of Military School Management should further their studies, grasp situations, and give timely recommendations to higher levels to improve the quality of education and training work and military school building. It should also work closely with units, agencies, academies, and schools in the military to complete strategies, plans and submit them to higher levels for approval. Moreover, it must focus on raising its personnel’s expertise and its advisory role.

As the COVID-19 is developing complicatedly, General Cuong asked the department to develop this year’s enrollment plans, complying with regulations, and to direct military schools to safely welcome new students, hand over graduates to units, and make preparations for the opening of the academic year 2021-2022.
He also assigned relevant agencies to take notes of the department’s proposals and submit them to competent authorities for consideration.
