Deputy defense minister directs civil defense exercise in Hanoi
PANO - On September 28, Hanoi city conducted a civil defense field training and A2 exercise as part of the defensive area exercise in 2024.
Attending the event were Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Politburo Member, member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of Hanoi, and Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister.

The exercise aimed to implement the Civil Defense Law in 2023 and Decree No.02/2019/ND-CP of the government on civil defense. It also enhanced the leadership and command capabilities of leaders at all levels in civil defense, and in response to war aftermath, disasters, pandemics, and safeguarding the national economy.

The exercise has also contributed to raising the awareness of and responsibility for regarding civil defense among Hanoi’s armed forces and citizens. Thanks to thorough preparation and close coordination, participating forces handled scenarios in line with reality, achieving set goals.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong commended the results and responsibility of the participating forces during the exercise. He underscored the importance of the exercise for Hanoi’s civil defense work and expressed his hope that the city will continue to enhance their knowledge, draw lessons, and improve their advisory capacity to the municipal Party Committee and People’s Committee in implementing the Civil Defense Law. He believed that based on the outcomes of this civil defense and A2 exercise, Hanoi will successfully complete the defensive area exercise in 2024.
