PANO - The Ministry of National Defense held a conference on July 22 to review the implementation of Campaign 50 (Campaign “Good, durable, and safe management of weapons and equipment and traffic safety”) in the first half of this year. Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong, Deputy Defense Minister cum head of the Defense Ministry's Steering Board for Campaign 50 chaired the conference.

Accordingly, the ministry has instructed all defense agencies and units to conduct Campaign 50 comprehensively with positive results since the beginning of this year. All units across the army have creatively repaired, upgraded and maintained old weaponry and equipment while managing to master newly-assigned ones, contributing to ensuring combat readiness and meeting all tasks' requirements for all circumstances. Reports at the conference also pointed out certain shortcomings that need to be overcome to better task performance in the time to come.
Addressing the event, General Truong asked Party committees and commands of all military units to continue conducting information dissemination and education drives to raise troops' awareness and responsibility in implementing the campaign. He also emphasized that both quality and quantity of weapons, equipment and vehicles must be prioritized and ensured for units executing combat readiness and training missions, as well as those in remote and mountainous areas. The units also were urged to strictly observe disciplines and regulations in managing and using weapons and equipment in the time to come.
