Defense Minister works with Thanh Hoa provincial Military Command
PANO - General Ngo Xuan Lich, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defense, on February 25 paid a working visit to the Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command, where he was briefed on the local socio-economic development as well as the defense-security consolidation.

Accordingly, the province’s socio-economy has developed dramatically and the province has become one of the localities that has actively created a favorable environment for investors.
Last year alone, the province reached 25 out of the 27 set targets, mainly on socio-economy and defense-security, and its Gross Domestic Product grew at 9.05 per cent. As a result, 12,300 billion VND was contributed to the local budget while the locals’ living standards were improved and defense-security was firmly strengthened.
General Lich hailed the province for its achievements over the past time, especially in 2016, considering them important encouragement for the province’s Party committee, authorities and people to strive for this year's targets.
In terms of defense-military, General Lich highlighted the local armed forces’ recommendations to consolidate the building of a defensive area; for the good observation of disciplines, fulfillment of tasks on building armed forces and combat readiness training; for close coordination with local departments and organizations to ensure political security, social order and safety in the locality and firmly defend national sovereignty and security at border areas; and for their assistance to locals in hunger elimination and poverty reduction.
Regarding the coming missions, the Minister of National Defense asked the local armed forces to continue following closely situational developments in the locality, particularly along land and maritime boundary, and in key places; to strictly maintain combat readiness duties; to prepare forces and facilities to uphold political security and handle any circumstances to ensure a stable environment for local socio-economic development.
The local armed forces’ leaders were also tasked to set good examples for their comrades, foster good young cadres, and improve training quality for stand-by, self-defense and militia and reserve forces.
