The event drew the participation of Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Senior Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, and leaders of the Defense Ministry’s affiliated units. Secretary of the Lao Cai provincial Party Committee Dang Xuan Phong and other leaders also attended the event.

Reportedly, over the past time, the Lao Cai provincial Party Committee has strictly implemented all guidelines and directives of the Central Military Commission, focused on its major tasks and fulfilled assigned missions as scheduled. In addition, local authorities have also applied new models, ensured personnel work, and raised troops and public awareness, thereby creating consensus throughout the province and protecting the Party’s ideological foundation.

Besides, the defense and security work and social order in the region have been ensured, while foreign relations work has been expanded. Furthermore, the number of crimes and traffic violation cases have been reduced, contributing to building the borderline of peace, solidarity, cooperation and development.

Addressing the working session, General Giang acknowledged and hailed the remarkable achievements of Lao Cai province in socio-economic development, and defense and security enhancement over the past time. He also spoke highly of the outcomes of the province’s disbursement of public investment capital and administrative reform. The defense minister requested Lao Cai province to continue to strengthen defense capacities to effectively protect the Fatherland in the current context; build the whole-people’s defense posture in association with the people’s security posture as well as the strong provincial and district defensive areas; among others.

He hoped that the provincial authorities would continue to work with local armed forces to safeguard the national sovereignty over border areas, build more border patrol routes, focus on the building of the borderline of peace, solidarity, stability, cooperation and development, creating a solid foundation for maintaining and promoting good neighborly relations as well as economic exchanges and cooperation.

He took the occasion to send thanks to Lao Cai provincial authorities and people for supporting military units to make preparation for the eighth Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange slated on April 11 and 12 in Lao Cai province of Vietnam and Yunnan province of China.
