Briefed on the agenda of the 15th N.A.’s 4th session by Doan Thi Hao, a member of the Standing Committee of the provincial Party Committee, the cadres and staff from military units in Thai Nguyen province gave opinions on issues of military voters’ concern.

Some voters suggested that the N.A. should have more specific and practical policies to develop the defense industry, contributing to building a strong and gradually-modernized Vietnam People's Army to well fulfill the national construction and defense tasks in the new situation.
They also said that the functional agencies should pay more attention to carrying out housing policies to help troops and defense staff in the whole military in general and Military Region 1 in particular stabilize their life. Others contributed opinions on the Law on Civil Defense and enlistment work in Thai Nguyen province.
Speaking at the meeting, General Phan Van Giang briefed delegates and voters on military and defense work-related important issues to be discussed at the fourth session; the regional and international situation; the guidelines of the Party, State, and military on foreign affairs, especially external defense relations; socio-economic situation in September; outcomes of the implementation of military and defense missions over the past time.
The defense minister highly appreciated voters’ valuable opinions. He evaluated that those ideas demonstrated military voters’ responsibility and knowledge about the country's macro problems as well as the military's practical issues. General Phan Van Giang answered a number of contents and provided additional information on issues related to the building of the Law on Civil Defense, management and use of defense land, implementation of housing policies for troops.
General Giang also took the occasion to talk about the mission of early protection of the nation from afar with a focus on developing a modern defense industry to meet the demand for production and maintenance of weapons and equipment for military units to fulfill the national construction and defense cause.

At the meeting, General Giang praised Military Region 1’s armed forces and military units stationed in Thai Nguyen province for their achievements in carrying out military and defense missions, actualizing policies for troops’ families, and helping locals eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, and protect local security and order.
He asked Party committees and chain-of-commands at all levels to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement resolutions and directives of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense on military and defense tasks; closely coordinate with forces to follow the situation and make timely advice to the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, Party committees, and local authorities to handle circumstances.
The same day, General Phan Van Giang and delegates also planted trees on the compound of the military region command.
