At the conference, the CMC Standing Committee commented on some tasks, and discussed policies for retired military officers according to regulations on Circular No.158/2011/TT-BQP, issued on August 15, 2011 of the Ministry of National Defense (MND).

Over the past time, units in the whole military and local authorities have strictly implemented Circular No.158, contributing to raising the spiritual and material life of retired military officers. Meanwhile, they have also ensured policies for retired officers with serious illnesses, and organized solemn funeral when a retired officer passes away.

An overview of the event

Reportedly, almost all retired officers have received due care from the CMC, MND, contributing to promoting comradeship while encouraging youths to join the military, meeting all task requirements in the cause of national construction and defense in the current context.

At the conference, delegates pointed out difficulties in carrying out policies for retired officers.

Concluding the conference, Gen. Giang underscored that taking care of the retired military officers contributed to promoting the comradeship in the military.

He requested relevant units and organs to continue to ensure regulations for retired officers according to Circular No.158, map out solutions and make recommendations to the CMC and MND to address arising issues to better ensure policies for retired officers.
