Present at the event were Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) of the Vietnam People’s Army General Luong Cuong, and Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defense Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, among others.

At the meeting, delegates focused on discussing and commenting on reports on the five-year implementation of Resolution No.5-NQ/TW dated April 16, 2018 of the Politburo on Vietnam’s National Defense Strategy; Conclusion No.24-KL/TW dated April 16, 2018 of the Politburo on Vietnam's defense strategy; and proposal for resuming education courses for civilian students in several military schools.

Delegates at the meeting

At the event, a leader of the GDP informed the participants on domestic, regional, and international situations that have had impacts on the country’s defense-military task performance, and briefed on some major contents of the eighth plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee.

In his concluding speech, General Giang praised relevant agencies for summarizing these documents over the past time, while requesting them to note down and study the delegates’ opinions and complete draft reports in order to propose to the Party Central Committee as regulated.

An overview of the meeting

The leader also briefed upon outstanding achievements in defense-military task implementation over the past time, and urged the CMC members to grasp situations, especially those related to defense-military missions, and direct their units to work with functional agencies and ministries to fulfill all assigned tasks in 2023.

At the same time, General Giang asked the CMC members and military delegates to the eighth plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee to promote their responsibilities, stance, set an example, and pro-actively engage in key issues defined in the agenda of the plenum.
