Defense leader meets with national contributors from An Giang province
PANO - On behalf of the Ministry of National Defense, Major General Nguyen Van Gau, Deputy Director of the General Department of Political Affairs, chaired a meeting and handed over gifts of the defense ministry to national contributors from An Giang province on May 11.

An Giang is a locality in the key economic region of Mekong Delta, with an important position in terms of national defense and security and the national socio-economic development. During resistance wars for national liberation, the national protection war and international task performance, the armed forces and people of An Giang province united, promoted the patriotic traditions, and contributed significantly to the national liberation and reunification cause.
To promote the revolutionary traditions, over the past time, the Party, authorities and people of An Giang province have always overcome hardships, promoted creativeness, and achieved great results in economy, society, national defense and security. Notably, the local authority has paid much attention to carrying out policies for national contributors and other social welfare activities.

At the meeting, Major General Gau inquired after and presented gifts to An Giang’s national contributors. He also informed delegates on the results of the gratitude activities in the whole military over the past time. Particularly, thousands of troops have been mobilized to join the COVID-19 prevention and control while the military has donated nearly VND 1.9 billion to the national COVID-19 vaccine fund.
General Gau added that the military units have also collaborated with local authorities to ensure benefits for policy beneficiaries. Particularly, 6,838 gratitude houses have been built and 5,609 savings books presented to them while 2,897 heroic Vietnamese mothers have been taken care of. The military has also handed over medical equipment and necessities to the convalescent centers for national contributors nationwide.
