Defense delegation inspects Dien Bien’s drug control
PANO –Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of National Defense, led a mission to inspect Dien Bien province’s implementation of the Politburo’s Directive 21-CT/TW on drug control in the current situation from 2008-2018, on November 22.
Over the past ten years, thanks to good information dissemination and mass mobilization, the province has obtained good results of drug control.
The provincial police force instructed its units to effectively carry out a joint resolution among the provincial police, Fatherland Front and relevant agencies on promoting the movement “Whole people protect national security”. Meanwhile, local people actively provided useful information to help the force manage and educate drug addicts.

The provincial Border Guard Command well implemented the coordination mechanisms with Laos’ security force in fighting crime in border areas. As a result, from 2008 to now, relevant forces detected 5,538 drug related cases and arrested 6,907 suspects involved.
During the inspection, the head delegate asked the provincial People’s Committee, People’s Council and Committee to continue the implementation of the directive and other documents of the Politburo on promoting Party leadership over drug prevention and control.
They were also asked to improve professional competence of specialized forces, ready equipment for the task and popularize effective models and exemplary people, contributing to building drug-free localities, agencies, units and schools.
