Conference approves benchmark scores for military schools in 2024
PANO - Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong chaired a conference on August 16 to review and approve benchmark scores for military schools in 2024.
In 2024, military academies and schools enroll students in four ways, including direct admission; competency tests of Vietnam National Universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; high school transcripts; and high school graduation exam results. This year, the admission scores to military academies and schools are higher than those in 2023. There are 23,076 students registered to enter military academies and schools.

Speaking at the conference, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Tan Cuong required functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) to continue to coordinate with military academies and schools to finalize the benchmark scores and report to the MND for approval. The results must be posted on the Ministry of National Defense's portal and made public to the press and news agencies by 5:00 p.m. on August 17, 2024. The academies and schools will then announce the benchmark scores and the list of successful candidates.
The GS chief also noted that the organization of the announcement of benchmark scores, reception of successful admitted candidates, and health check-ups must be carried out as regulated. After enrollment, the academies and schools should implement post-inspection work to classify cadets and map out appropriate training programs; conduct education on traditions, regulations, military discipline, and school regulations; and increase exchange activities so that cadets can quickly adapt to the military environment. Meanwhile, the selection of cadets for training abroad and at schools outside the military must meet standards, ensuring the best quality and efficiency.
