PANO - The mission of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army asked the Coast Guard Command to actively renovate political education approaches, regularly orient troops’ thoughts and build political stance and firm will for its personnel in the time to come.

The request was made on October 19 during the mission’s visit to the command to check its performance of Party and political work in 2016. The mission was led by Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia.

Since early this year, the command has studied and seriously implemented directives and resolutions of the Party, the Military Central Commission, the Defense Ministry and instructions by the General Department of Politics. It has also comprehensively and effectively carried out Party and political work.

Moreover, its subordinate units always maintain firm unity while the leadership capacity and combat strength have been improved. Furthermore, the command has effectively promoted its education programs such as “Legal bookcase”, and “I love national seas and islands”.

However, there have remained some shortcomings in implementing Party and political work that need to be fixed soon.

Concluding the inspection, the mission asked the Party Committee and Command of the Coast Guards to uphold and foster the Party’s ideological stance among the coast guards.

The command was also asked to intensify practices, reduce theories so that their personnel’s awareness of and responsibility for political work would be raised while promoting education on tasks, national tradition, the Party and State’s guidelines and policies on boats on duty at sea, mass mobilization work and democracy at grassroots level as well as the work of caring for troops’ families.

Additionally, the command should check and perfect its action programs and the implementation of the Politburo’s Directive No. 05 and the Military Central Commission’s Directive No. 87 on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts, moral examples and lifestyle in close attachment to the campaign “Promoting tradition, devoting talents, deserving to be Uncle Ho’s soldiers”. It should also proactively build a revolutionary, regular, elite and modern coast guard force of Vietnam.
