Forces deploying vehicles and equipment to respond to oil spill incident

The exercise was chaired by Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Coast Guard Command Senior Colonel Le Dinh Cuong.

In the first simulation scenario, two cargo ships, numbered HD-01 and HD-11234, collided with each other while operating at sea. The collision caused the HD-11234 to catch on fire and two crew-members on board to fall into the sea. The HD-11234’s captain then requested for emergency assistance and rescue.

In the second simulation scenario, the fuel pump of a coast guard ship was broken when the ship was receiving fuel to perform a task at sea. This incident at port of Flotilla 11 of Coast Guard Region 1 led to oil spill into the sea wharf and into the river.

Units immediately took measures to prevent the oil from spreading over a large area and requested specialized forces to do the clean-up.
