At the working session, the delegation was briefed on the municipal border guard command’s task accomplishment in the first six months of this year. Notably, Da Nang’s Border Guard Command actively made recommendations to the municipal Party Committee and People’s Committee to effectively lead the enhancement of departments, sectors, and forces’ awareness of the management and protection of national border; well disseminate information about the prevention of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. The border guard agencies and units have well carried out their core role in managing and protecting sovereignty and security in border areas and maintaining political security and public order in sea border areas.

In the first six months of this year, the sovereignty and security of the coastal areas in Da Nang city was strictly maintained. The Da Nang municipal Border Guard Command pro-actively developed plans and resolutely fought against various types of crimes, particularly drug-related crimes, contributing to maintaining political security and social order and safety in the area. The unit detected, captured, and handled 53 cases involving 64 offenders and law violators; prosecuted and investigated 26 cases involving 31 drug-related offenders; imposed administrative fines for 27 cases.

Speaking at the working session, Gen. Thai highly appreciated the Da Nang municipal Border Guard Command’s task performance over the past time. He said that the obtained results have helped affirm the leading role of the municipal border guard force in the border area.

The Commander of the Vietnam Border Guard requested the city’s border guard force to continue to bring into play the achieved results, address limitations and shortcomings to successfully accomplish the set targets. Its party committee and chain-of-command should thoroughly grasp resolutions, plans, directives, and guidelines of higher levels regarding the management and protection of the national border in the new situation; strictly maintain combat readiness; be pro-active in flood and storm prevention.
