The meeting was presided over by Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem, a member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy-Defense Minister and head of Steering Committee 1389.

To successfully realize the campaign, military agencies and units embraced resolutions, directives, and programs from higher levels and built plans for themselves with close attachment to real situations.

Accordingly, border and coast guard units closely coordinated with other forces, including public security, customs, market management, and local authorities to arrest 3,329 suspects, prosecute over 300 subjects, verify 13 cases with 23 involved people, and hand over 1,161 cases to functional agencies.

The total value of seized objects and goods, combined with administrative monetary penalties was estimated at VND 113 billion.

In his concluding speech, General Chiem spoke highly of and applauded all involved units for their good performance in fighting smuggling, trade fraud and combating counterfeit goods.

General Chiem also tasked the units to further embrace resolutions and directives on the combat from higher levels, bring into full play their responsibilities, fulfill their staff and leadership tasks well, boost coordination between military, public security, customs units and local authorities while actively improving the staff’s professionalism, proposing specific programs and plans and being resolute in dealing with violators.

At the meeting, six groups and eight individuals with good task performance during the campaign were awarded by the MND certificates of merit.
