Army Corps 3’s veterans gather in Hanoi
PANO – More than 600 veterans of Army Corps 3 in Hanoi and Northern localities gathered in Hanoi on March 26 to mark the corps’ 42nd founding anniversary, the 27th founding anniversary of the Liaison Board for those who fought in the Central Highlands theater, and the 42nd anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification.
Recalling the unit’s glorious history, Major General Tieu Van Man, former Deputy Commander in charge of political work of Army Corps 3 and Military Region 5, evaluated that the Central Highlands was one of the fiercest theaters. However, troops of units in the region stood side by side with the locals to score resounding victories in the Pleime Campaign in 1965 and Dak To-Tan Canh Campaign in 1972, making contributions to liberating the whole Central Highlands region.
After its establishment in March 26, 1975, Army Corps 3’s troops participated in the battle to occupy the Independence Place, contributing to the success of the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign. They also joined different theaters, such as B, C, K, and Northern border.
In peacetime, the corps’ former troops have promoted the beautiful tradition of Uncle Ho’s soldiers to contribute to the development of their localities. They have encouraged and helped each other overcome difficulties.
