At the celebration, Commander of Army Corps 12 Major General Truong Manh Dung delivered a speech, recalling Army Corps 2’s construction, combat, development, and resounding feats-of-arms. Since its establishment five decades ago, troops of the army corps have done their utmost to successfully accomplish assigned missions and obtain resounding feats-of-arms.

Speaking at the event, Gen. Phan Van Giang congratulated Army Corps 2 on its feats-of-arms and excellent outcomes obtained over the past half a century. To further enrich the traditions of Army Corps 2 and present Army Corps 12, the Defense Minister requested Army Corps 12 to continue to enhance the direction and leadership over the study and implementation of resolutions, directives, and conclusions of the Party, Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense, thus helping troops understand that streamlining the military is an objective requirement to obtain the goals of building an "elite, compact, strong" military by 2025, towards building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modernized people's military by 2030.

Minister Giang emphasized the need to build a politically-, ideologically-, ethically-, organizationally-strong Party Organization; enhance the leadership capacity and combat power of party committees and party organizations at all levels, and the exemplary role of party members; raise the quality of political and ideological education for officers and soldiers.

The top defense official emphasized that Army Corps 12 should synchronously take measures to build an "elite, compact, strong" unit and enhance combat readiness quality in accordance with its functions, tasks, and new organizational structure; master vehicles, weapons, and equipment; foster training to raise troops’ endurance and resilience; maintain solidarity; actively coordinate with other units and localities to successfully carry out regular and unexpected tasks.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Army Corps 2’s foundation day, the Party and State decided to present the first-class Fatherland Protection Order to the army corps in recognition of its obtained achievements.
