The Vietnamese team ranked second as it finished the track in 32 minutes 17 seconds, and hit the target from 1,700m.
In this round, each participating crew had to pass nine obstacles of different kinds, such as a zigzag, a ford, a high slope, an anti-tank ditch, a mine barrier, a track-bridge, and other obstacles, and fired targets from different distances of 1,600m, 1,700m, 1,800m, 700m, and 900m, depending on the kinds of weapons.
The two other tank crews of Vietnam compete in next events on August 6 and 8. As the competition rules say, the team with the shortest total time among the three of a country will advance to the semi-finals.
Senior Colonel Phan Hai Long, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armored Corps of Vietnam, said all members of the contingent are highly determined to achieve good results.
He considered that the rainy weather negatively affected the first tank crew’s result although the second place among the participating crews in the first day of competition was good.
All contingent members have been well-prepared. They are ready for the next competing days and set to achieve the best outcomes, he added.
