The Sniper Team is the first among eight VPA’s contingents to compete in the Army Games 2019.
This year’s competition sees the competition of 23 sniper teams from 21 countries.
In the first round, from August 4 to 6, each country sends four snipers to compete in seven individual shooting lessons. Snipers will fire at targets of different shapes and sizes from different distances. In both day and night sight lessons, snipers are required to shoot in different shooting positions, including the unfavorable ones.
Eight best teams will advance to the second round.
As of 20:30 on August 4 (Hanoi time), the VPA’s Sniper contingent completed two out of the seven individual shooting lessons of the first round of the competition.
In the first lesson, shooting target was an A3 paper with one 2cm black dot in the center. Snipers shot at the target from distances ranging from 300m to 600m. The shooting lesson required snipers to select appropriate distances and calculate wind speeds to fire two shots at the target in one minute.
After the first lesson, the Vietnamese sniper team ranked 10th among 21 participating teams.
In the second lesson, from a distance ranging from 300m to 500m, snipers fired 10 shots at a target in three minutes. After the second round, the Vietnam team ranked 5th.
The cool and windy weather in Brest city partly affected the shooting results of the participating teams.
The VPA’s sniper contingent was ready for the next shooting events of the day.
Most of participating teams took part in the previous Games. In Army Games 2018, the Belarusian sniper team ranked first, followed by Kazakhstani (2nd), Chinese and Russian (3rd), Mongolian teams (4th).
This is the first competition in the Games of the VPA’s 9-member sniper contingent.
