Vietnamese officer dispatched to MINUSCA
PANO – A Vietnamese officer has been commissioned to serve at the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, authorized by the State President, handed over the decision and assigned tasks to the officer at a ceremony held at the Ministry of National Defense Headquarters in Hanoi on April 20.
Accordingly, Captain Nguyen Quoc Khanh is to serve as Intelligence Collection Staff Officer at the mission. This is a new position for Vietnamese officers who have been working for the UN peacekeeping operations.
At the ceremony, Gen. Minh spoke highly of the task performance and preparation of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre to send competent officers to the UN missions.
The general tasked Capt. Khanh and other Vietnamese officers, who serve in the UN missions, to thoroughly grasp and well implement the guideline for external affairs of the Party, State, and the VPA; strictly obey the UN regulations and the local laws; and accomplish assigned tasks with safety.
Capt. Khanh is the 4th Vietnamese officer to serve in MINUSCA and the 16th one in the UN Peacekeeping Operations.
