Vietnamese, Indian militaries hold online scientific workshop
PANO - The Institute of Defense Strategy under the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, in collaboration with the Center for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) of India, organized an online scientific workshop on June 7 in Hanoi.
Assoc. Prof., Dr. Major General Vu Cuong Quyet, Director of the Institute of Defense Strategy, and Dr. Lieutenant General V.K Ahluwalia, CLAWS’s Director, co-chaired the workshop.
At the event, the two sides discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern and highly appreciated the stable, sustainable and effective development of the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership over the past time. They also discussed approaches to deepening the relationship between the two countries in the time to come, and emphasized the practical activities that have been implemented by both countries to support each other in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
General Quyet held that the bilateral ties have been increasingly enhanced over the past time despite the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic. Particularly, the defense-security sector has become an important pillar of the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, he noted. The Vietnamese officer reaffirmed that the workshop provided an opportunity for the two sides to discuss practical issues to enhance bilateral defense ties in a suitable manner.
For his part, Lieutenant General V.K Ahluwalia spoke highly of the effective policies and measures of the Vietnamese Government in preventing and controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, including the contributions of the Vietnam People’s Army. He also affirmed that he believes the bilateral defense relations will be increasingly reinforced and developed in the time to come.
