Vietnamese and Indian defense leaders hold phone talks
PANO – Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, held phone talks with General Manoj Mukund Naravane, Chief of Army Staff of India on March 9 in Hanoi.
During the talks, General Nghia affirmed that the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries in general, and the bilateral defense ties in particular, witnessed fruitful developments in recent years. Vietnam always attaches much importance to the development of the comprehensive and practical relationship with India, contributing to maintaining peace, stability and prosperity in the region and in each country.

In turn, General Manoj Mukund Naravane thanked the Vietnamese side for attending the talks, stressing that the two nations’ friendship and defense relations will be further enhanced in the future.
Both sides held that the defense ties have been maintained amidst the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic and agreed to quickly resume defense cooperation activities when the disease is under control and the two governments remove control measures and quarantine regulations.
The Indian General suggested that the two sides should enhance delegation exchanges at all levels in the time to come, particularly for young officers.
For his part, General Nghia noted that the two defense ministries should accelerate cooperation in various fields such as training, military medicine, information technology, UN peacekeeping operations, military sports, and so on. He stated that the talks’ outcomes will contribute to accelerating cooperation and relationships between the two countries, two militaries and two armies.
