Vietnamese, Chinese Coast Guard forces conclude joint patrol in Gulf of Tonkin
PANO – The Vietnam Coast Guard Vessels CSB 8004 and 8003 of Flotilla 11, Naval Region 1 Command concluded the first joint patrol with its Chinese peers in the Gulf of Tonkin on April 26.

Under the set plan, the Vietnamese and Chinese ships conducted an inspection along the demarcation line between the two countries and checked fishing activities of fishing trawlers of Vietnam and China in the waters in accordance with the Agreement on Fishery Cooperation in the Gulf of Tonkin from April 21 to 26.
During the six-day joint patrol, the two sides carried out several activities, such as courtesy calls, experience and expertise exchanges and monitoring of the implementation of the Fishery Cooperation Agreement of fishing trawlers of the two countries in the shared fishing area.
On this occasion, the ships of Naval Region 1 conducted the program “Coast Guards stand by fishermen,” on Con Co Island (Quang Tri province) with various activities, including incense offering at the Martyrs’ Monument, presentation of gifts to the authorities, troops and residents of Con Co Island, distribution of information, gifts, national flags, medicine and life-vests to the Vietnamese fishermen fishing at sea.
