Vietnamese, Indian Coast Guards to foster cooperation
PANO – Vietnam always bears in mind the spiritual and material supports of the Indian military and people for its struggle for the national liberation and unification cause in the past and its socio-economic development at present.
The statement was made by Major General Ngo Minh Tien, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, at a reception for Vice Admiral Rajendra Singh, Chief of the Indian Coast Guard, on April 25 at the Headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense.
Highlighting the achievements in cooperation between the Vietnamese and Indian Coast Guard forces in the past time, General Tien affirmed that Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense is willing to create favorable conditions for the force to foster their cooperation with the Indian side. He said that the effective cooperation between Vietnamese and Indian Coast Guards would contribute to strengthening mutual trust as well as serve as a driving force for the ministries of defense of the two countries to boost their cooperation in other fields.
For his part, Vice Admiral Rajendra highlighted the beautiful traditional friendship between the two countries and the good outcomes of the cooperation between the Vietnamese and Indian Coast Guard forces, since the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in 2015.
The guest also briefed the host on the cooperation activities between the forces of the two countries over the past time.
