Vietnamese, Cambodian military units to foster information exchange
PANO – The Tay Ninh provincial Military Command on June 19 reviewed the implementation of defense external affairs in the first six months of this year and rolled out missions for the rest of the year.
The province’s military command signed cooperation agreements with four military sub-regions of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces. In the first two quarters of 2017, military units of the two countries held 42 meetings and information exchanges, making contributions to quickly dealing with security violations in border areas. Furthermore, the two sides organized a series of culture and sports exchanges, New Year greetings, and seminars for their young officers.
During the time, the Vietnamese province’s Party Committee, People’s Committee, and military command provided over VND 10.5 billion of assistance to Cambodian military sub-regions. Meanwhile, Cambodian units helped Tay Ninh’s military command collect and repatriate 263 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who laid down their lives implementing international duties in Cambodia.
At the conference, the delegates discussed and agreed on some measures to strengthen their cooperation in communication.
