Vietnamese, Cambodian border guards to boost anti-drug efforts
PANO – The border forces of Vietnam’s Gia Lai province and Cambodia’s Ratanakiri province sit in a meeting to discuss measures to prevent and fight against drug crimes on both sides of the shared borderline on May 18 at the border post of Le Thanh International Border Gate in Gia Lai.
The event was co-chaired by Senior Colonel Tran Thanh Binh, Deputy Commander of the Gia Lai provincial Border Command, and Major General Phan Sarat, Deputy Chief of the Ratanakiri provincial Police Department.
The two sides informed each other of recent operations of drug-related crimes along the borderline of Vietnam and Cambodia in general and border sections of Gia Lai and Ratanakiri in particular.
They both held that the drug crime situation along the shared border of the two provinces is likely to be complicated in the coming time.
In order to effectively combat drug trafficking through Cambodia’s Ozadao Border Gate and Vietnam’s Le Thanh International Border Gate, both sides agreed to closely follow local situations, regularly share information, and further expand joint activities.
