Vietnamese and Thailand navies conduct joint patrol

During the patrol, the two sides saluted “Hello ASEAN”, held joint exercises on signal flags, lamplight signaling, practiced the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES) and conducted a search and rescue exercise. They also observed developments during their operation to warn the two countries’ fishermen about fishing in the sea delimitations of each side.

Concluding the joint patrol, the Vietnamese ships docked at Chuk Port in Samet, Thailand to start its visit to the Royal Thai Navy’s Region 1 Command.

The Vietnamese officers and crewmembers visited and exchanged with Thai peers aboard ship 423 which is one of the two Thai ships engaged in the earlier joint patrol with the two Vietnamese ships. In return the Thai peers also exchanged with Vietnamese officers and crewmembers on ship 261.

During the exchanges, the two sides shared experiences and skills in handling situations facing ships operating at sea, especially during the joint patrols.

The Vietnamese and Thai peers also had a friendly volleyball match and participated in a banquet hosted by the Thai side.

The Vietnam People’s Navy’s assignment of ships to a joint patrol with and visit to the Royal Thai Navy showed the goodwill of reinforcing cooperation ties with the Royal Thai Army and Navy and helped bolster the friendship between the two navies.
