Abyei, a region with a distinctive climate, is entering the rainy season, which brings numerous challenges. Its flat terrain prevents rainwater from draining quickly, resulting in prolonged flooding that severely affects the daily lives of local people.

Upon receiving a request for support from the authorities of the Abyei Administrative Area and with the consent of the UNISFA, the Engineering Company Rotation 3 set plans and mobilized equipment to carry out anti-flood drainage works for residential areas.
Specifically, the unit installed underground culverts, dredged nearly 5km and excavated over 2km of new drainage ditches, helping to address prolonged flooding during the rainy season and ensuring safer living conditions for the people.
In addition, to support travel, trade, and particularly medical emergency transport during rainy and flood conditions, the unit leveled and repaired over 3km of local roads near Abyei Hospital. The upgraded road has become clear and accessible, making travel safer and more convenient for residents, while improving the operational effectiveness of the local healthcare facility.
The unit also repaired and made 20 sets of desks and chairs for students at the Abyei Secondary School, contributing to improving the school’s learning and teaching conditions. These small yet meaningful actions have been warmly welcomed by teachers and students.

Alongside infrastructure support, the unit organized an animated film screening and cultural exchange program for local children at Abyei Church. Through engaging, lighthearted films and friendly interactions, the image of a peaceful, compassionate Vietnam has left a strong impression on the local community, especially the younger generation.
Non-commissioned Officer Major Nguyen Tan Toi, Deputy Head of the Road and Bridge Section of the Engineering Company Rotation 3, said, “We spent our free time and days off helping local residents clear drainage ditches to prevent flooding during the rainy season. Through these activities, my teammates and I feel proud of our contribution to the community, helping the people here have a better life.”
