Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien and Lt. Col. Park Jeong Hwan

During the conversation, the Vietnamese deputy defense minister highly appreciated the RoK Defense Attaché’s contribution to fostering the friendship between the two countries in general and the bilateral defense cooperation in particular.

General Chien noted that the defense ties between the two countries have seen significant growth in recent years, becoming more comprehensive, in-depth, and effective, especially in such areas as exchanges of delegations at all levels, training, collaboration between naval forces, settlement of war legacy, defense industry, and U.N. peacekeeping operations.

Based on existing agreements between the two defense ministries, General Chien suggested both sides continue to conduct exchanges of delegations, especially at the senior level; effectively maintain ongoing consultation and dialogue mechanisms, particularly the Deputy Minister-level Defense Policy Dialogue; expand cooperation in training and defense industry; foster collaboration in settling war legacy and carrying out U.N. peacekeeping operations; and strengthen coordination at regional and international multilateral forums.

He expressed his belief that the RoK diplomat would continue to actively work with Vietnamese defense agencies to further deepen and improve the practical outcomes of bilateral defense ties.
