The drill was conducted as part of the visit and exchange between crew-members of the Ship CSB 8002 of Coast Guard Region 2 under the Vietnam Coast Guard and their Japanese peers.

During the exercise, the Ship CSB 8002’s crew-members and personnel of the Hiryu Firefighting Vessel of the Japanese Coast Guard practiced towing a troubled ship ashore in an unfavorable weather condition.

The joint activity was held to raise search and rescue capability of the Vietnamese and Japanese coast guard forces who both play a vital role in search and rescue missions in each country. It also contributed to strengthening solidarity and cooperation between the two sides’ law enforcement forces at sea as well as their ability to protect maritime security and safety.

Here are some photos of the exercise.
