An overview of the event

At the Ma Lu Thang - Jin Shui He border gate pair, the two sides jointly organized the launch ceremony for the 2026 joint border patrol program. During the event, they exchanged views on the coordination mechanism for joint patrols and briefed each other on recent developments in border management.

This joint patrol was led by the Lai Chau Provincial Border Guard Command. Each side established four patrol teams and exchanged two liaison officer groups, comprising four officers, to conduct joint patrols along the border section from border marker No.17 to border marker No.71 on the Vietnam–China land border area.

The two sides adopted a combination of vehicle-based and foot patrols, implementing joint patrol activities in accordance with the principle of “border-to-border, point-to-point, and line-to-line” coordination.
