During the meeting, the Vietnamese deputy defense minister affirmed that relations between the two Parties and the two countries have continued to be consolidated and strengthened in recent years. 

According to General Chien, the bilateral defense cooperation has, over time, affirmed its role as one of the important pillars in Vietnam - China relations. This has been reflected through numerous areas and forms of cooperation that have yielded substantive and effective results, notably in such fields as exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially at the senior level; cooperation mechanisms; and collaboration between arms and services and in defense industry, Party work, and political work.

In particular, in April 2025, the two sides successfully organized the ninth Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange, contributing to safeguarding the border and border marker system and promoting development cooperation between the two countries and the two militaries.

Looking ahead, on the basis of the common perceptions reached by the senior leaders of the two countries and the signed documents and agreements, the Vietnamese defense leader proposed that both sides continue to promote and effectively implement cooperation contents and areas in greater depth, achieving practical results.

For his part, Ambassador He Wei expressed his pleasure at meeting General Chien again. On this occasion, The Chinese diplomat conveyed his congratulations on the 81st anniversary of the foundation day of the Vietnam People’s Army. He affirmed that, in his current position, he will make every effort to contribute to promoting defense cooperation between the two countries.
