According to the Vietnamese defense leader, over the past time, thanks to the two sides’ great efforts, bilateral defense cooperation has developed in such fields as all-level delegation exchanges and defense industry.

To promote bilateral defense relations in a comprehensive and effective manner in line with orientations sketched out by the two countries’ senior leaders, Gen. Chien suggested the two sides enhance cooperative ties in all-level delegation exchanges, particularly high-level ones, defense industry, training; actively support and coordinate in respective defense industry expos; and accelerate signing of cooperation agreements and framework.

Given that the Ministry of National Defense (MND) of Vietnam will host the second Vietnam International Defense Expo in December this year on the occasion of the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, Gen. Chien emphasized that the Vietnamese MND welcomes and stays ready to create conditions for Turkish defense enterprises to exhibit their products at the expo.

For his part, Ambassador Korhan Kemik stressed that defense cooperation is one of the important pillars in the two countries’ relations. He suggested the two sides continue strengthening cooperation with a focus on fields of needs. The Turkish diplomat believed that the cooperative ties between the two sides would further develop intensively, practically and effectively.

He underlined that the Vietnamese Party, government, and MND always pay due attention to the traditional friendship with the DPRK and that the comprehensive cooperation between the two parties and states is a premise and a foundation for the two sides to bolster bilateral defense relations in an intensive and practical manner.

The host highly valued the Korean officer’s efforts to act as a bridge to boost the bilateral defense ties in recent years, bringing about positive results, thus promoting the two countries and militaries’ relations.

He asked the two sides to continue to effectively implement agreed cooperation contents, such as exchange of all-level delegations, Party and political work, and actively discuss and research new cooperation contents to meet each side’s demands.

Sr. Col. Kim Myong Chol shared with Vietnam the heavy consequences caused by Typhoon Yagi. He affirmed that in his capacity, he would exert efforts to boost the implementation of agreed cooperation contents and study new cooperation ones so as to strengthen the bilateral defense cooperation.

* Highly appreciating the important contribution to the bilateral defense relations made by Colonel Ulysses Susarno Mancao who have fulfilled his tenure as the Philippine Defense Attaché to Vietnam, Gen. Chien laid stress on the officer’s pro-activeness in connecting and accelerating defense cooperation activities, particularly in all-level delegation exchange; consultation and dialogue mechanisms, especially defense policy dialogue; naval and air force consultations, friendship exchanges on Song Tu Tay (Southwest Cay) and Song Tu Dong (Northeast Cay) Islands; cooperation between arms and services, in training, defense industry; and coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums and mechanisms.

Col. Mancao expressed thanks to the Vietnamese MND’s leadership and functional bodies for their attention, support, and creation of conditions during his working term. He said that in any posts he would actively contribute to the development of the relations between the two countries and two militaries.

For the new defense attaché Colonel Ronald Erazo Gaboy, the Vietnamese deputy defense minister asked him to continue collaboration to comprehensively and substantively carry out common perceptions of the two defense ministers during the official visit to the Philippines by the Vietnamese minister last August. He suggested the Philippines support Vietnam in its efforts to get the European Commission’s removal of “yellow card” against its seafood exports.

Confirming to promote his predecessor’s achievements, Col. Gaboy said he would team up with the Vietnamese MND’s functional agencies to effectively implement contents related to bilateral defense cooperation.
