Present at the opening ceremony were Cambodian Deputy-Prime Minister and Defense Minister Tea Banh, senior officers of the Royal Cambodian Army, a delegation of the Commando Command of the Vietnam People’s Army, led by its commander Major General Do Thanh Binh and the Vietnamese Defense Attaché Agency in Cambodia Col. Nguyen Anh Dung.
In his speech, Cambodian Deputy-PM Tea Banh highly appreciated the significance of these facilities and affirmed that Vietnam-supported facilities over the past years would contribute to modernizing the infrastructure of the brigade in particular and of the Royal Cambodian Army in general, and to enhancing their combat readiness ability and capacity to defend the national territorial sovereignty and to upholding political stability and social order.
The Cambodian official thanked the State, Government, Army and people of Vietnam for their regular support for Cambodia to build a strong army and develop the country.
He emphasized that these much-appreciated outcomes have come from the time-honored friendship and solidarity between the two armies and peoples.
The operation of these newly-inaugurated facilities is in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties, the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year and the 22nd founding anniversary of the Cambodian brigade.
In the past, Special Parachute Brigade 911 and the Commando Command of the Vietnam People’s Army have bolstered their close ties. They have regularly exchanged delegations, shared experiences and assisted each other with personnel training and equipment provisions.
