Vietnam, Singapore hold tenth deputy ministerial-level defense policy dialogue
PANO - The tenth ministerial-level defense policy dialogue between Vietnam and Singapore took place on June 17 in Ho Chi Minh City with the co-chair of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister, and Chan Yeng Kit, Permanent Secretary for the Singaporean Ministry of Defense.
At the dialogue, the two sides exchanged views on the security situation in the Asia-Pacific and progress of cooperation at the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM), ADMM Plus, reviewed outcomes of the bilateral defense ties following the ninth dialogue, and agreed on orientations for the bilateral cooperation in the coming time.

Both sides highly appreciated the outcomes of the bilateral defense cooperation over the past years, especially in the fields of exchange of delegations and young officers, training activities, naval and air force cooperation, information sharing, military medicine, and cooperation at multilateral forums which the two countries participate in. Both sides also highlighted the good results of the cooperation in training of languages and international relations as well as in sharing of experience in treating tropical diseases and exchanges of forces, especially naval and air forces.
With their desire to promote comprehensive and substantial development of the bilateral defense cooperation in the coming time, the two sides agreed to actively coordinate and provide mutual support for each other at multilateral forums, particularly when Vietnam assumes the ASEAN Chair in 2020
Concluding the dialogue, General Nguyen Chi Vinh and Chan Yeng Kit signed a 2019-2021 cooperation agreement between the two defense ministries.
