Over the past six decades, the Vietnam-Cuba friendship established by Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and Cuban President Fidel Castro has continuously been fostered by generations of leaders and people of both countries, making important contributions to the revolutionary cause of each country.

Previously, during the visit of General Party Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to Cuba in March 2018, defense leaders of the two countries agreed to compile documents on the history of the Vietnam-Cuba defense cooperation in a bid to educate young generations on the friendship and solidarity of the two countries in general and bilateral defense cooperation in particular.
