Vietnam prioritizes cooperation in scientific research with Russia

At the event, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, who is also President of the Vietnamese Sub-committee of the Intergovernmental Coordinating Committee for the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center, highlighted the time-honored relationship between Vietnam and Russia. He affirmed that the bilateral traditional relationship has been tested over decades, becoming a treasure of the two countries and a vital factor to lift the bilateral relationship to a new height.

The Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State and Army always bear in mind the wholehearted and valuable supports of the people of the Soviet Union and Russia to the country’s resistance war for national independence in the past and current national construction cause.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, the two countries have actively supported each other in the fight. In particular, the Russian Federation has presented COVID-19 vaccines and medical supplies to help the Vietnamese Government and people contain the pandemic, General Chien added.

He went on to stress that the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center is the only bilateral cooperation mechanism that has existed since the Soviet Union and bears great political significance in the fine relationship between Vietnam - the former Soviet Union and present Russian Federation.

Over the past time, the two countries have paid due attention to building the center into a prestigious and reliable multidisciplinary tropical science research and application in Vietnam and Russia.

On the occasion, the two officials discussed contents related to cooperation in scientific research within the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center and proposed prioritized key cooperation contents in the years to come in a bid to prepare for the upcoming meeting of the sub-committee and the 32nd Meeting of Intergovernmental Coordinating Committee for the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center.
