Health Ministry works with southern branch of Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center
PANO – A delegation of the Health Ministry, led by its Deputy Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truong Son, worked with the southern branch of the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center on July 13.
Upon receiving orders from the Ministry of National Defense, the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center sent its mobile container lab and personnel from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City to assist the southern hub’s COVID-19 testing efforts.
With a 25-staff team, a molecular biology lab, and a mobile container lab, the center can process about 1,200 COVID samples per day. Since July 5, the team has received and tested 5,400 pooled samples to help the city’s Center for Disease Prevention and Control issue timely prevention and control measures.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Son acknowledged the contributions of the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center to the COVID-19 prevention and control effort in Ho Chi Minh City.
He asked the center to be ready to improve its testing capabilities in the time to come, contributing to helping the city respond to the pandemic in a quick and timely manner.
