Vietnam, Laos expand defense cooperation
PANO – The Lao Embassy in Hanoi hosted a banquet on January 17 on the occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of the Lao People’s Army.
Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, member of the Party Central Committee, permanent member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister, attended the event.

At the event, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Thongsavanh Phomvihane reminisced the 70-year establishment, fighting and development of the Lao People’s Army. He stressed that Laos’ successes in the revolutionary cause and achievements over the past time came partly from the support from regional and international friends, especially the Vietnam People’s Army.
Ambassador Thongsavanh Phomvihane also expressed delight at the continuous development of defense cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang said that the Vietnam People’s Army is delighted at the great successes obtained by the Lao People’s Army over the past 70 years. General Giang believed that under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the Lao People’s Army will gain greater achievements in the national construction and defense cause for the sake of peace and stability in the region and the world.
