Vietnam, Laos deepen special relationship
PANO – A delegation of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association and staff of the Museum and Memorial Houses dedicated to Laos’ former Presidents Kaysone Phonvihane and Souphanouvong had an exchange in Hanoi on December 27 with former Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and specialists who had worked with the two Lao presidents.
The event was held by the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Associations in order to help the Lao friends study and collect more documents on their country’s leaders in build-up to the celebration the 110th and 100th birth anniversaries of President Souphanouvong (July 13, 1909-2019) and President Kaysone Phonvihane (December 13, 1920-2020), respectively.

At the meeting, Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and specialists shared information about major stages in the revolutionary careers of Presidents Kaysone Phonvihane and Souphanouvong as well as about the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
Thongvanh Thongdy from the Museum on President Kaysone Phomvihane held that the fact-finding tours to Hanoi city and provinces of Son La, Hoa Binh, Thai Nguyen, and Tuyen Quang, where Presidents Kaysone Phonvihane and Souphanouvong had studied and worked, helped them learn more about the two countries’ faithful relationship.
