Vietnam, Laos conduct joint border patrols
PANO – The Mon Son Border Post under the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command of Vietnam and Border Company 252 of Laos’ Bolikhamxay provincial Military Command held a joint border patrol from August 10 to 13.
For three days, Vietnamese and Lao troops patrolled the Vietnam-Lao border section and areas around marker No. 441 which was planted at 1,522.55m above sea level in Mon Son commune, Con Cuong district, Nghe An province.
Despite the bad weather, the joint force inspected the marker’s condition, removed bushes, and cleaned the area surrounding the marker. They also discussed issues related to border protection and informed each other of each side’s COVID-19 prevention and control.
After checking, the joint force concluded that the borderline had not been in a good condition. There was no sign of violations of laws and border regulations, or illegal border crossing.
The joint patrol aimed to boost coordination in protecting and managing borders, preventing people from illegally crossing, fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, and building a borderline of friendship, cooperation and development between the two units in particular, and Nghe An and Bolikhamxay provinces in general.
