The event aims to strengthen the solidarity, credibility, trust, cooperation and development among the three countries in general and among the four provinces of Kon Tum (Vietnam), Sekong and Attapeu (Laos), and Ratanakiri (Cambodia) in particular. Besides, the exchange is also a chance to mark the 60th anniversary of the foundation day of the Vietnam Border Guard (March 3) and the 30th Whole People’s Border Day in Vietnam.

An art performance during the event

An art exchange among representatives of the four provinces, the Kon Tum Provincial Border Guard Command and the border guard forces of the neighboring countries, featured a beautiful picture of the traditional friendship, comprehensive and long-term cooperation.

Located at the Junction of Indochina, Kon Tum province shares the borderline of more than 140km with the two Lao provinces of Sekong and Attapeu, and nearly 140km with Ratanakiri province (Cambodia).

For the past five years, Kon Tum province has donated more than VND 16 billion for the three provinces of Laos and Cambodia, and built schools, hospitals and civil works. The neighboring provinces have also supported Kon Tum province in many aspects, especially in protecting national sovereignty and border security, searching and repatriating Vietnamese martyrs’ remains, and fighting crimes.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Border Guard Command and the Kon Tum Provincial People’s Committee handed over 40 breeding cattle, worth VND 600 million, to poor households, and 20 scholarships to needy students in the three provinces of Laos and Cambodia.

The exchange included various activities, such as a friendship seminar, a joint patrol, a tree-planting event at the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia border landmark.
