During the talk, Lieutenant General Nghia congratulated General Yoshihide on his new post as Chief of Staff of the Ground Self-Defense Force of Japan and hoped that the Japanese senior officer will make significant contributions to accelerating cooperation between the two armies in particular and the two militaries in general.

In turn, General Yoshihide held that he will make greater efforts to boost friendship and cooperation between the two militaries in a more practical and effective manner.

At the talk, the two sides noted that the bilateral defense ties and army cooperation have seen remarkable development over the past time.

They agreed to enhance cooperation between the two armies in the time to come, particularly in exchanging viewpoints on matters of mutual concern, searching for possible cooperation fields, sharing experience in UN peacekeeping operations, collaborating to overcome consequences of war-left unexploded ordnance, and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
