Vietnam, Japan expand defense relations
PANO - Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister, received Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Umeda Kunio in Hanoi on February 22.
At the reception, General Giang held that in line with the sound relationship between Vietnam and Japan, the bilateral defense cooperation has obtained considerable outcomes.
Particularly, the two defense ministries boosted delegation exchanges to promote credibility and trust, as well as cooperation on personnel training, maritime security and aviation safety, and overcoming war consequences.
For his part, Ambassador Umeda Kunio emphasized that the sound bilateral defense cooperation over the past time has considerably contributed to the two countries’ relationship in general.
The Japanese diplomat also held that Japan wants and is willing to foster cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of mutual concern for the interests of the two peoples and for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
