At the meeting, Sr. Lt. Gen. Pham The Tung congratulated MINUSCA on securing key elections in the country. He affirmed that Vietnam views U.N. peacekeeping as a significant political task, demonstrating its commitment to global peace and security. Since 2014, Vietnam has deployed over 1,300 military officers to missions in South Sudan, the Central African Republic, Abyei, and U.N. Headquarters, successfully operating field hospitals and engineering companies. The Ministry of Public Security has also deployed numerous individual peacekeepers. Notably, Police Unit No. 1 has achieved Level 3 in the U.N. readiness system, with female participation exceeding 30 percent.

The Deputy Minister requested that MINUSCA continue supporting Vietnamese officers and discussed the potential deployment of Police Unit No. 1 to the Central African Republic. Valentine Rugwabiza highly appreciated the contributions of Vietnam’s forces in maintaining regional stability, pledging continued support despite U.N. budget constraints and restructuring.

The delegation also met with working groups from the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security at MINUSCA. Lieutenant Colonel Dang Thu Ha, Head of the Ministry of National Defense’s working group, reported on the complex local security situation. Despite these challenges, the groups have maintained internal cohesion and closely coordinated on operations and national commemorations, promoting Vietnamese culture to the international community.

He emphasized that their roles represent responsibilities entrusted by the Party and State, highlighting that coordination between military and public security forces is vital for mission success.
