An overview of the event

At the meeting, the two sides highly appreciated obtained outcomes in accordance with the contents of the previous meeting. Despite many difficulties in task performance, the search and collection of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisers has been effectively implemented. Particularly, in the 2023-2024 dry season, Vietnamese search and collection teams found 834 sets of martyrs’ remains.

During task implementation, the Governmental Specialized Committees, military regions, provinces, authorities of both countries have closely cooperated to address challenges. Significantly, Cambodia has supported Vietnam’s search and collection teams in performing their tasks and actively encouraged people to provide information about the burial places of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisers who lost their lives in Cambodia in wartime. In the 2024-2025 dry season, Vietnam will maintain 11 search and collection teams in provinces and cities across Cambodia.

At the end of the meeting, Sr. Lt. Gen. Vo Minh Luong and Mr. Chum Soyath signed the minutes of the 23rd meeting.
