Vietnam, Cambodia step up cooperation in fighting cross-border crime
PANO – The Vietnam Border Guard Command and the General Commissariat of National Police of the Cambodian Ministry of Interior co-held a conference on December 12 in Ho Chi Minh City to expand coordination in managing and protecting the shared borderline.
Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Commander of the Vietnam Border Guard, and Senior General Dam Vuthy, Deputy Director of the Cambodian General Commissariat of National Police, co-chaired the event.
At the conference, the two sides reviewed their collaboration in preventing crimes over the past year, particularly in dealing with drug trafficking and other cross-border crimes, and maintaining social order and security along the shared borderline.
They agreed to continue expanding cooperation in fighting cross-border crimes, exchanging information, and handling arising problems along the borderline.
In addition, they will jointly hold bilateral border patrols and anti-terrorism drills as well as launch information dissemination programs to raise border people’s awareness of the traditional partnership between the two countries.
