An overview of the talks

The event was attended by Head of the Military Youth Advisory Board, Senior Colonel Tran Viet Nang, and Head of the Cambodian delegation, Lieutenant Colonel Heang Chhaymeng. Colonel Theam Virak, Deputy Cambodian Defense Attaché in Ho Chi Minh City, and young officers of the RCAF also participated in the talks.

Cambodian delegates

During the talks, both sides shared a common viewpoint that Vietnam and Cambodia are neighboring countries enjoying traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation. In addition, the two peoples and militaries always supported each other during the cause of national liberation and construction. It is considered the invaluable treasure of both countries and should be upheld and cultivated by generations, especially the two young ones, so as to lift bilateral relations to a new height.

In the coming time, young officers of the two countries will enhance and promote strategic trust, considering it a decisive factor in boosting bilateral solidarity, while implementing dissemination work among troops and people to raise their awareness of the sound neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability.

Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant Colonel Heang Chhaymeng thanked the Vietnamese side for their warm reception, affirming that this was an opportunity to tighten the solidarity between the two militaries, especially among young officers.

He also highlighted the assistance of the Vietnamese side in training Cambodian personnel over the past time, proving the long-standing friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Addressing the event, Senior Colonel Tran Viet Nang underscored the importance of exchanges between the Vietnam - Cambodia young officers, which practically cultivate a political stance among them so as to accomplish all assigned missions. Therefore, exchanges should be promoted in all fields.

* The same day, Division 9, Army Corps 4, received the Cambodian delegation of young officers.

On the occasion, the Cambodian delegates learned about the division’s traditions and missions. Both sides also shared experience in training and building the units and learned more about the sound neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between the two peoples and militaries.

On behalf of the Cambodian delegation, Lieutenant Colonel Heang Chhaymeng affirmed the Vietnam - Cambodia relationship, adding the role of the young generations in preserving and promoting the relations.

Cambodian young officers also took the occasion to offer incense in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh, visit the Vietnamese division’s Hall of Fame, and tour the unit.
