Vietnam and Laos strengthen cooperation in military medicine
The first scientific conference between the Vietnam Military Medical University (VMMU) and the Laos Military Medical University took place in the Lao capital of Vientiane on July 18.

Addressing the meeting, Major General Khampheth Sisanon, member of the Lao Central Military Commission and Deputy Director of the General Department of Logistics of the Laos People’s Army, stressed that the conference gave cadres and instructors of the two universities opportunities to exchange knowledge and experiences in scientific research to train young scientists to improve diagnosis, treatment and care for troops.
In his speech, Major General Do Quyet, the VMMU’s Director, emphasized the importance of the meeting, saying that it would help boost the decades-long relationship between the two universities and at the same time tighten their scientific cooperation, especially in treatment for troops and people.
Before concluding the meeting, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement for the 2018-2019 period. Accordingly, the VMMU will continue supporting the Lao university in training postgraduates. It will also open short-term training courses on basic and military medicine, share experience in cadet management, educational quality improvement and others.
The Vietnamese university will provide its Lao counterpart with medical equipment, teaching devices and textbooks to help improve the recipient’s training service while building and carrying out scientific researches on military medicine and pharmaceutics.
