PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of National Defence on September 12th received Mr. Jonathan Woodson, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defence for Health Affairs on his visit to Vietnam to attend the 2015 Asia Pacific Military Health Exchange.

During the reception, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh affirmed that the rapid development of Vietnam-U.S comprehensive cooperation including military medicine cooperation over the past years has failed to match with potential of each country. The Vietnamese general hoped that in coming time, the two countries should promote cooperation in military medicine and that the U.S would share experiences with Vietnam in the application of new technologies in treatment, and help train military medical English for Vietnamese staff, and surmount war aftermath.

The Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister also said that the 2015 Asia-Pacifc Military Health Exchange is an opportunity for regional countries to promote their cooperation, raise their medical capacity to fight diseases and conduct humanitarian activities, and exchange experiences in UN peacekeeping mission.

For his part, Mr. Jonathan Woodson thanked general Vinh for his warm welcome and expressed the honour to attend the 2015 exchange in Vietnam. The U.S official stressed that military medicine is one of key and prioritized sectors in Vietnam-US cooperation and that the U.S is willing to promote military medicine cooperation with Vietnam in the coming time.
